What do you all think is ........Food, Nutrition, Health, and Disease are interrelated? The answer to your question is YES, they all are interrelated. HOW they are interrelated let's find out -
To understand the link between Food, Nutrition, Health, and Disease, you have to know what are its definitions or what they mean.
According to WHO, HEALTH is a state of complete physical, mental, social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease and infirmity. Mostly, we all know this definition and we also know that what this definition says.
FOOD is defined as anything solid or liquid which when swallowed, digested, assimilated, nourishes the body. food is the material from which our body is made. we all survive because we intake food inside our body without it we can't live.
NUTRITION is defined as 'the science of foods, the nutrients and other substance therein; their action, interaction and balance with health and disease. It can also be understood as 'the process by which the organism ingests, digest, absorbs, transport and utilize nutrients and dispose of their end products'
DISEASE is an abnormal condition in the body which affect our other body part, with symptoms of illness or sickness with well-defined symptoms in the body.
- achieving optimal growth and development.
- maintenance of structural integrity and functional efficiency of body tissues necessary for an active and productive life.
- mental well-being.
- ability to withstand the aging process.
- ability to fight against infection.
Besides, a healthy person is socially well-adjusted. Social health pertains to the way a person socializes, interacts, has relationships and gets along with other people in society.
An old saying goes ' PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE '.Many of the health problems that people develop are related to the food they eat. Many diseases can be prevented with good nutrition. good nutrition is important for a child's growth and development. those children who do not receive sufficient food, especially during critical periods of growth, suffer from malnutrition. Good nutrition is important not only for children but is also equally vital for adults as age. healthy -eating habits slow down the aging process. the immunity of a person is affected by her/his nutritional status.
Thus, the food that we eat and the nutrients derived from it have a major impact on our health.
" FOOD HAS THE POWER TO HEAL US. IT IS THE MOST POTENT TOOL WE HAVE TO PREVENT AND TREAT FROM MANY DEGENERATIVE CHRONIC DISEASES"
